Rishikesh can be reached via taxi directly from New Delhi airport, this journey is approximately 6-8 hours drive, depending on traffic and time of day. The nearest domestic airport is Dehardun, it is approximately 45 minutes by car to reach Rishikesh from Derahdun.
Towards the end of May the temperature in Rishikesh is very warm. We can expect experience an average temperature of 35 degrees celsius and potentially high humidity although we would expect a dry heat pre monsoon.
During our retreat we will be staying at an english style bed and breakfast resort. Seventh Heaven Inn is without a doubt the best place to stay in Rishikesh. Our hosts Charlotte and Rahul take pride in making you feel at home in their home away from home haven.
All rooms are clean, fresh and facilitated with air-conditioning, hot water and en-suite bathrooms.
The bed and breakfast is located in upper Tapovan, Laxmanjhula. The main town of Rishikesh is not of a lot of interest to most travellers, Laxmanjhula is located approximately 2km from the main town centre.
Rishikesh is a vegetarian and dry town. A dry town does not have alcohol available for sale. In hindi tradition towns and villages based on a holy river are vegetarian and free from alcohol.
During your stay at the bed and breakfast, breakfast and lunch is included. Breakfast is a selection of fruit, toast, eggs and vegetables. Lunch is a selection of traditional indian meals which include dal, seasonal vegetables and chapatis.

Safety in India
India is undoubtedly a very confronting country. It is recommended that participants embark on their journey with an open mind and be willing to embrace local traditions and cultures. Local people are understandably curious of foreign travellers which can be intimidating at the beginning, they are however generally quite docile people. Rishikesh itself attracts thousands of foreign travellers each year therefore local people are extremely open and welcoming to western travellers. Your airport transfers will all be pre-arranged by our associates based in India. We have professional relationships with registered travel agents in India. Indian tourist police are also very pro-active in providing a safe environment for tourists. Your details will be lodged with the tourist police as you check-in to the bed and breakfast. This is a legal requirement by the tourist police. As with any foreign travel, it is recommended to remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
Staying healthy is important during your stay. We have taken every precaution to ensure your exposure to potential hazards is minimised. Your accommodation and food preparation standards are in line with western standards. We can never completely eliminate the risk of falling ill while travelling overseas however we would not expect anyone to fall seriously ill. In the unlikely event you do fall ill there are private hospitals near by that can accommodate you. We do recommend that you consult your GP to arrange any necessary vaccinations or medical requirements before you travel.
